etem ozturk was born in adana, turkey in 1976.  he owes his english language skills to the american school of tarsus where he studied between 1987 to 1994 except for his junior year for which he was an exchange student in fort worth texas. he studied economics at the  university of istanbul, yet in his second year he was fortunate enough to attend  the one year long evening-study  program organised by the ministry of tourism to become a certified professional tour guide.

being an avid reader and a literature enthusiast he pursued his studies at the department of spanish literature at the university of istanbul, and all the reading and researching to better himself as a tour guide led him to get a masters degree in architectural history at kadir has university.

what started out as a volunteer work in 1997, paved the way for him to become “the” tour guide of the “istanbul foundation for culture and arts” which led him to guide many celebrities visiting turkey including woody allen, harvey keitel, peter gabriel, moby, john malkovich, leonard cohen, shakira, carlos santana. he has guided the production team (and appeared on) the istanbul & turkey episode of the nbc’s today show special “where in the world is matt lauer”. his 10 seconds of fame can be seen at under the title “a whirlwind tour of turkey”

he lives in istanbul with his wife and daughter.  he loves to spend time with his family, travel, read, cook.
